The gentle rustle and crunch of feet on the ground caused Saena to turn her head, but she recognized Spring from a mile away. The woman was an incredible asset to both the pack and the Alpha female, who was more than indebted to the Gamma for her help with the children. More than indebted to most of her wolves, she realized. It was her duty now to find them a good home, although with the locusts she wondered if that was even possible. An acceptable home, perhaps, but they'd be lucky to find anywhere less devastated than the ridge's once-grand forest.

"Well," she mumbled, pulling herself upright to sit with the Gamma in silence. "As well as possible, anyway. How are you holding up?" She watched Spring for a moment, hoping her Gamma was faring all right, and then her gaze panned around to the woods behind them, but even in the falling darkness she knew there was nothing to see. Just bark. The locusts had made quick work of all the greenery in the area, and she could only hope they were localized. "We'll need to move on from here soon. Someone told me there's a good chance food will be scarce after this." She hadn't believed Rexxar at the time and still wanted to feign ignorance, but a little thought on the matter revealed the truth. Even if the foliage came back within a month, the herds would starve if they waited that long. She didn't want to think about what might happen then.

"I would've liked to stay a while to let them grow up a bit more," she said quietly, indicating the children with a sidelong glance, "but this place has been too heavily affected." Sadly, Saena would soon learn that the whole of the wilds fared no better.
