Oystercatcher Tide Pools rose petals

Gluska’s sharp yellow eyes peered tentatively into the shallow pools. He could see the oysters beneath the water and his mind wandered to allow him to contemplate catching one to pry it open for the slimy meat inside. It would tide him over on his journey home, but he was also aware that he had not travelled to the ocean’s edge in search of food but instead for herbs. It was during his own internal debate that the ochre-tinged male caught sight of a quiet shadow searching him with forest-colored eyes. The coywolf tossed his ears forward and returned the stare with his own sharp canary stare.
 
“Afternoon,” he finally purred with a curling smile. The tip of his tail flagged once or twice before holding still. His coy expression remained locked on the handsome face of the dark stranger for only a moment before he glanced back into the water. “Wonderful day for oysters,” the rusty-tipped male snipped sarcastically.
