Swiftcurrent Creek nightmares on wax

Corsair broke free, sending Fox onto the ground, but the yearling noted that there were at least two wolves down, and neither of them were hers. There was one more, standing over another, and Fox spat an order to whomever would take it. “Kill that one!” she ordered, then looked to the other wolf who seemed to have been fighting with them. Fox did not have time to think about what he was doing or what his association with any of them were, for Cutlass, Corsair, and Bones were fleeing the scene. The Swiftcurrent wolf gave chase, galloping at full speed and stretching her legs as far as they would go.

But at some point, it was not worth it. Fox slowed herself, panting heavily and knowing that they had not won this one. Not in the way that she had wished to, anyway. Fox could not follow them any further, or it would take her too far away from home, and she was no abandoner. The howl that resounded a few minutes later caused Fox to stop in her tracks completely. Snorting through her nostrils, Fox turned and headed home.
