“Aye,” Fox affirmed, having picked up the word from the soon-to-be-kidnapped Bones at some point or another. Jinx was a good judge of character, even if she was more harsh than Fox. The Kesuk had always been less-willing to give others a trial period (or so it seemed to the yearling), but Fox allowed others to prove themselves before turning them away. If she had outright shunned Bazi, as was her first instinct, the girl would not be such a valuable asset to the creek right now. The Gamma was living proof that it paid off to give others a chance.

Feeling relaxed, Fox slumped to the ground and began to preen her coat. She was not as obsessive as Ferdie about keeping herself well-groomed, but she did make sure she was not a complete mess. Pausing, she looked to Bazi. “Will I offend you if I doze off here?” she asked. There would be plenty of time to get back to the creek before nightfall, even if she took a nap, and an afternoon rest was sounding like just the thing.
