Cai had been wandering for many months after leaving her birth pack. The weight of her sorrow was much lighter than it had been initially but it had been nearly that long since she'd seen another wolf. So when she caught the faint scent of another wolf's marking she first felt excitement. The fear of how her arrival would be treated was the secondary and overpowering emotion. She had eaten recently, but was fatigued and thirsty. She slowed her pace to a saunter so as to soften the sound of her paws on the forest floor, both to make herself more hidden from observers and to minimize noise that might distract from her own observations. If she were to come across a wolf, she wanted to see them first. This was her hope as she trod onward.
