The prospect of going outside would not have appealed to her without one of her family members by her side. But Pippin seemed willing, if not particularly reactive to the invitation. Spur sighed quietly, understanding all too well her brother's plight. She brushed her muzzle against his cheek again, nose skimming along the bone before coming to rest at the corner of his eye. She pressed her nose there, then gave his temple a kiss before taking a step back and motioning for him to follow.

Keeping a watchful eye on the other wolves milling around them, Spur stuck close to the cave's wall, following the natural contour to its open mouth. After exchanging a quick glance with Pippin, she slipped outside and scooted immediately to the left of the doorway. She trotted a few yards, then paused to look back and wait for her litter mate to catch up to her. Over his shoulder, she spied several marauders chatting near the threshold of The Crook. A few of them looked back at her curiously, so Larkspur immediately dropped her eyes.
