Vada spoke in a garbled tone to herself, not noticing the big not-dog. She heard and felt his footprints, however, and her orange eyes snapped open. She gave a howling screech, lunging to her feet with a wobble. She was slow to react, however, and when she finally begun to run, her pale tail waved mere inches from the not-dog's face. Her feet gained purchase on the soil and she shifted into high gear, feet pummelling the earth as she fought to larger the small gap between bear and wolf.
