Silas and Little Voice interacted amiably enough under Larkspur's watchful eye. She should have been heartened by her brother's willingness to embrace the small, mute wolf. But she still found him disquieting. She made a conscious choice to avoid going outside, instead hunching more tightly against the cool stone wall. Much of her attention she continued to direct at the pair of them, though occasionally her eyes flitted to the other goings-on in and around The Crook.
