Firefly Ravine On the fence

Marbas watched curiously as the rust-colored shewolf loped toward him. Not the alpha, he decided after a moment, affecting an unconcerned look as he sat down on the floor. He'd arranged himself into a carefully neutral statue by the time she reached him, but made sure to give her his full attention when she arrived. A slight, but not an obvious one. Not overt enough to challenge, but enough to perturb most wolves.

"I'm waiting for the alpha, unless you think you can be of any help," he replied, his tone level and questioning, but his words belieing his true opinion of her.

Or let her think that, at least. What he really thought was that she was rather attractive, and that he liked her easy confidence and straightforward approach. But that was neither here nor there, and he did want to speak to the alpha, when it came down to it. The shewolf before him smelled of salt and sun - a more pleasing aroma he'd never known.
