At her praise a confident smile rose to his face and she returned the gesture with a smaller one of her own. His answer about Amekaze and his mateship wasn't truly either direction. She had only suggested they had arranged it that day because two separate alphas would be harder than two bound in a mateship. Through mating they could truly come together, literally and figuratively, and it wouldn't seem so much like competing forces but one combined force. She'd never had such an agreement in her pack, nor had she seen one before. The idea was a good one though, if it was done well.

She nodded, it was a logical jump when a male and female alpha joined their packs, that they too might join. A kind of mutual thank you by helping the other to make pups and make the pack stronger. It was a simple way to ensure their loyalty to each other. She was pleased to hear, though, that it had been a surprise when it happened. She was a romantic wolf, however much she tried to deny it. "That's very sweet. It must have been hard for the both of you, at first. Coming together. I've known alphas who would have failed in a heartbeat," She remembered to try to be less long-winded. "It speaks well of both of you, but you don't need me to tell you that I'm sure."

"Is the pack fairly new then? Was it this past winter?" She thought it might be, but wanted to be sure.
