she did not understand, not truly--for the words in which rowan spoke overwhelmed the others, and deirdre's mind, for the moment, ran in a confused circle. heat? she asked, and then, you and my father were in heat? and at the others mention of being pregnant, deirdre smiled warmly, not grasping that these were to be siblings of hers. none had given her the talk of the birds and the bees, and the birds and the bees themselves did not speak to her on such matters. how could this be a bad thing! she breathed, confounded--for the famine had ended, and though the timing it had been done had been unwise deirdre did not understand the way of a womans cycle or anything else. perhaps the only reason she might have grown upset was for the fact that it would jeapordize the lives of ospreys cubs, but as it was, there was no need for any to fear; life had returned, and life continued to come. deirdre was thrilled. pregnant--that means, you will have children like osprey had had children???
