Just as his name was simply given, so was it recieved.  Banner nodded politely, internally proud of herself that she'd properly identified someone based on face and name.  That was a first.  The name exchange didn't do much for converation, but she wasn't bothered by that.  It didn't take a social butterfly to tell that something was on his mind.  Probably more than one something.  That she could relate to.

Banner cleared her throat, which sounded hoarse and awkward against the steady backdrop of rainfall.  "Were you in the middle of something when the rain started?" she asked, her low voice a bit louder to compensate for the background noise.  It was difficult for her to tell what the right thing to ask was in this situation - so many wolves in these parts were talkers.  A pointed question here or there kept conversation going for what felt like (several painful) hours.  But she appreciated that Mordecai was different in this regard.  Maybe with age came the wisdom to be more selective with one's words.
