He snorted, turning towards the wolf who spoke, studying the creature levelly. Tupilek, after 20 years, was largely wary of other predators. While he never liked to fight, others did. But this wolf responded with genuine curiosity rather than veiled malice.

My confusion refers to the youth of the plants. It is the middle of summer, yet most of them are blooming as if it is the middle of spring.He pawed a leaf with surprising gentleness given his large size.
