His intent to depart roused Doe like none of their other wods had; she leapt from her place like roosting birds startled from their tree, and then wagged her tail excitedly as she thought of eating a nice, feathery bird.
"We will!" she said happily, inordinately pleased by Charon's friendly smile. It made her want to run up to him and rub her cheek against his - but that wasn't what she should do. He was across the border, after all.
