Palisander looked down at the branch because the female knew the original name. The autumn colored male slowly quirked up his lips, not many knew the original name. She was putting him to the test and he rather liked that. He was up for a challenge. He rather liked the other name because then he could be smug about it that she should not forget him. But perhaps it would not work on this female. This seemed to be her area of expertise, maybe she was not easily impressed. "Myosotis scorpioides. I do know. It is often known for the name Scorpion Grass due to the spiraling curve of its inflorescence. Myosotis is greek for 'mouse's ear', referring to the petals of the flower," he added.
His mother had been quite a flower lover too. He had always been willing to listen to her stories because the young male found out soon enough that if his mother liked it, other ladies might like it too. "I'm Palisander," he introduced. "You know about plants and flowers, very interesting," he murmured, tail swaying playfully behind him. Now he was close to her he could put his nose to work, meaning that he might be able to sniff out if she was in a pack or not. It seemed that she did not smell of other wolves. Was she a loner like him, alas he could never be sure.
