King Elk Forest What Arrows

Shrike stood as soon as Rowan did, allowing her to choose the direction but then fell into a quiet walk at her side. He kept a bit of distance between them- still not quite sure whether his tail would be handed to him if he was caught with someone else's pregnant mate or family member. She began to speak about her pack and she seemed to like it, though it seemed conditional given that the pack had accepted her. Of course, it was tough to take in a wolf who was pregnant, though she seemed to have family there. Shrike frowned. That didn't sound very good, though, and he assumed Rowan had left her previous pack for a not-so-good reason as well. 

But before he could say anything or ask any more questions, she asked him about the Caldera. "Oh, yep," He answered somewhat deftly. "Run by my cousin. Didn't know that 'til I got there; small world," He commented with a faint smile. It faded though, when he thought of the recent events- the plague of locusts and the death of little Peter. "Been a rough summer. But I suppose it's like that everywhere," He confessed, knowing he couldn't expect that everyone else had it easier. He had a feeling, too, that Rowan would have understood.
