"Do give a try," Osprey replied - she knew Charon far too well and far too long to understand that this kind of promise was easier to make than actually carry out.
"A "holy fool" describes a person, who might be a fool in other people's eyes, but he is right in the eyes of God," she explained. "Those kids will be born and in time you might see the one or ones that are different.
Maybe not, but let's say you do. You can act as any leader, who wants to preserve it's bloodline, would - kill them, banish them, treat them as inferiors.
Or... you can be the wiser man and see ahead. Treat them as your own, raise them to be better people than their creator and it will pay off in the bigger scheme of things."
She fell silent somehow feeling that Charon being the stubborn person he was, would not take the advice. Or regard it as foolish. Therefore she thought she should make another point:
"If you doubt my words - and I know you will - think about the time, when you were orphaned and Ragnar took you in. Having children of his own to take care of, he also had a choice then. He could have killed you and thus freed himself from the duty of feeding another hungry mouth. Especially, since you were not related to him in any way. Yet he made the choice of treating him as his own son and look, how far that has led you.
Therefore, if you think that the first tale is too sugary for your taste, think, what your life would have been, should Ragnar had decided differently. Would you want to be in a different place?"
