Buchanan's lips tugged into a grin spread wide upon his muzzle when Banner admitted to liking that he wanted to hunt and bring the warbler to her. His docked tail gave a slow, deliberate wave, a phantom feeling shivering through the severed tail bone and muscles where they both tapered off. The muscles had mended around the severed bone, fur and skin had regrown albeit scarred. He did not often feel those phantom sensations and Buchanan was quickly distracted by the feeling of the crown of Banner's head following the curve of his throat, her touch descending to where her cheek pressed against his chest. Her touch brought small shivers to his spine. Buchanan recognized those little shivers to be positive and he hardly minded them.
His ears perked as she made an attempt at murmured conversation, and for a small while Buchanan was silent, as he smiled down at her nape, mercurial gaze flicking from her back to the territory around them, unable to help his hyper-vigilance. Though they were well into the Marauder's claim the need to watch and to protect was too far ingrained within him. “Even if it had,” Buchanan began with a teasing guile to his tone before he sobered up. “you're worth it.” Giving all of his time to Banner was something that Buchanan would have done happily and willingly and he knew it. He deflected her contemplation but there was truth to what the assassin had spoken her, even if it was not a direct “yes” or “no”. He didn't want her to get upset by assuming that it had taken up all his morning, yet at the same time he didn't want her to think that he hadn't put thought or time into the gift. He'd been looking for a couple of days for the right bird, knowing roughly what he was looking for but not knowing which one would be the songbird until he saw the cerulean warbler.
The dark wraith could feel his heart's pace increased like a rising crescendo of a deep war drum within it's prison of flesh and bone as she purred at him, attempting to salve the embarrassment of his racing heart when it dawned on him that she could probably hear it. He could not help how his body reacted to her, he only wished that it wouldn't betray him. The sound that the Beta had made had been enticing, as was the further compliment she made in a husky tone. “Mmm,” The assassin drew in a soft rumble of a hum. “I may have accidentally either scared him to death or suffocated him.” Buchanan couldn't be sure and it would remain a mystery as the corpse could not come back to life and tell either of them. He supposed it didn't matter, in the end: his goal had been accomplished. Still, while he appreciated her compliment he didn't feel right taking all the credit for this one.

you are my sun and i am your moon
helplessly, irrevocably drawn to you
there is nothing i wouldn't do for you
helplessly, irrevocably drawn to you
there is nothing i wouldn't do for you
