His approach took long enough for her anger to switch from cold to hot and back again, and she alternately planned on either going for his throat or howling for Szymon. In the end, she did neither, as her temper was only just inching back toward a simmer when he finally appeared before her. Maybe she could've had a polite conversation about what he'd done to upset her - or perhaps she would've settled for a making a scathing remark and a veiled threat or two. But that voice of his undid her, and a wordless snarl of fury tore past her teeth as the last word - cutie - reached her ears.

She wasn't cute. Not today. She was hungry, and she would happily eat Murgash if he fell down before her. Only, that wasn't going to happen, and there was nothing she could stomach in the cache and it was all his fault.

Tears prickled in the corners of Doe's eyes, and she gazed imploringly at the vexing male before her as the fire in her belly cooled into what it really was - a tummy ache. And she couldn't believe it! She'd eaten twice already today and all she ever did was lie around, when she wasn't fixing her den, and it just wasn't fair.

"Bring me fooood," Doe wailed, her bottom plopping onto the sandy beach as the last word turned into a pitiful cry. Once that first sound made it out of her, all resolve was gone. Doe tried and failed to hold in her agonized sobs, sucking in breath after breath that just couldn't plug up the gaping black hole that was her stomach.
