Lost Creek Hollow We're on fire

This was it.

With the approval made, Freyja nodded in response. “Okay,” she replied, casting a quick glance over her shoulder to catch the fleeting sight of her father before returning her attention to Wildfire. “I’ll be back,” and with the promise made, the Feisripa turned from her mentor and in the direction that the herd had settled for the afternoon.

She stepped lightly as she carried herself, progressively lowering herself as she carried herself up the hill that separated the hunting party from their prey. Once upon the hill, she took cover in a nearby bush, just to be safe. At her current position on top of the hill, Freyja was upwind from the deer and did not want her scent to expose them all. They had traveled too far for them to fail now.

From her position, she was easily able to observe the herd. She was lowered to a crouch from within her refuge. Just as she had smelled the heard wasn’t that large. It was composed of mostly females, with a single adult buck. Freyja was thankful for this fact, but knew that the females could be just as fierce. There were two young deer as well-- one male and the other female-- that were towards the middle of the group. Freyja spent quite some time watching the group and hoping for a weakest link.

Finally, one appeared. A burly female could be seen towards the northernmost point of the group and though it was subtle, she walked with a slight limp. Brightening at this discovery, Freyja hung around for a few moments more, simply watching, before quickly slipping from her location and back to the group.

“Two children and an injured female,” she reported as she pulled up to Wildfire, her eyes gleaming. “The female is really strong looking, but she’ll be easier to catch,” and with her report offered, Freyja fell silent as the thrill of the impending hunt began to bubble from within.
