There were wolves here. many, many wolves, the perfect prey to hunt. she loved the thrill of hunting prey that fought back, the shock in their eyes when they realized their mighty lives were to be ended by a bird.
she dove a speeding missile toward the earth, and only when it seemed she would splatter against the earth did she open her mighty wings against the wind, in the same moment talons clutching a form that screamed a cry of death as it was carried rapidly into the heavens, then abruptly down again as the huntress lit in a tree that would support her great size, clutching in a talon the rabbit.
her beak clicked as she contemplated it a moment, then let it drop to the ground. she peered after it a moment longer, no, it was hardly exciting. the prey it could lure in was, however.
and thus, she waited.
