It was nice to hear some common sense coming from Kjalarr too, and Ondine felt slightly better by his words.

It was funny they had the same morals - keep the promises they made. He would protect her, their children and Ondine would do anything in her power to make him happy. That was what a subordinate; a mate was for, right? To love her partner? And she was pretty sure she did. She observed Maude and his reaction, and her muscles tensed up. As predicted, Maude finally snapped, leaping over her future mate with an aggression toward not Ondine herself, but her belly.
