deirdre listened to doe and swiftly plucked up a cub to take it where it would be warm, for now. when the time was right she would take the children to a more appropriate place to rest but for now she could only think of their surviving and their comfort. she listened to doe speak all the while, and her head tilted with interest. muses, milk-mother. none could imagine this to be the lifes course, but so it was. deirdre worried--winter was coming, and there were more mouths to feed, more than she anticipated.
