Astik let out a content noise in his throat as he felt Tapat snuggle closer to him, the pale boy effectively sandwiching between their mother and him. There was little that Astik could do but he was happy that there was something he could do for his pallid brother even if it was just the small gestures. His tail thumped against the earth as Tapat chewed upon the bone but stilled and quieted as Astik wiggled slightly (careful not to jostle Tapat in the process), trying to get comfortable, resting his chin against his paws, his eyes focusing upon their mother as she began her story. Though his attention span, as all children’s, was limited he loved story time. A hush stole over the shadow boy Jhala’s voice filled the den.

She spoke that she was the best fighter ever — and of course Astik agreed! — and she talked of cool things like secret missions and teams (even if that word went a bit over his head). Regardless of the question that burned on his tongue he bid it back not wanting to ruin the ambiance of the story by interrupting. For a moment, Astik considered asking why they didn’t just ask Raas, unaware of much. He didn’t even fully understand Raas only that he knew everything because he was a god and that meant he had to know everything! “Youuuu, mama!” Astik giggled, hoping with breath slightly baited that he was right.
