Eons seems to pass as he waited for her to say something—anything! She had confessed her love for him, but would her worries and doubts overwhelm her desire to be with him? She could say no, but he wasn't sure if he could stop pursuing her, knowing that she loved him back. He would simply have to continue to prove to her that he was worth the risk.
But, it seemed she had already realized that, for she agreed. He thought his heart would beat right out of his chest. Could she hear it? He seemed to. He kissed her, then, and wrapped a foreleg around her as she cuddled up to him. He would do whatever it took to make her happy, and whatever it took to soothe her fears. I love you so much, Valette, he replied. He would never tire of hearing it, or of saying it. My Queen, he added softly, with a smile.
