Wildfire's attention strayed from Kalika and fixated on Akantha. With the wind at her back, it was no small wonder why—she did not wither beneath the inquisitive gaze of the smaller she-wolf, but remained firmly in place despite the crippling pain in her neck and shoulders. With any luck this conversation would end before her energy lapsed, and her will-power stagnated, but she also did not want to cut it too short. The black-tailed woman knew something and if Akantha got what she wanted out of this, she would have to offer her own knowledge in return.
The sudden, subtle shift of Kalika's demenor did not go unnoticed, but Akantha did not spare her a glance to preserve her Sister's privacy. Instead she addressed Wildfire directly, pleased that the woman knew how to hold a conversation with equals without insult. Akantha, similarly, mirrored the action and kept her eyes trained near Wildfire's wet nose. "The Islands to the northwest. We like our space, and we are most comfortable near the seas. We prefer to survive off the bounty she brings." She inhaled and tilted her head a bit to the left, leaving no room for Wildfire to interject until she finished, "Will our presence there cause unrest within your coastal pack?"
Normally Akantha would be less forward about such things, but her neck hurt and she needed to soak in the healing waters of the surf to sooth the fire burning in her torn flesh.
