Why did it not just hurt the way she liked it? Why did it have to actually pain her in ways she never thought possible? For a moment did her eyes flicker - a faint, somber frown on her young face before that, too, disappeared. Why did she care? Why couldn't she just stop - why couldn't he just stop pestering her with these haunting emotions that were not useful to anyone?!
