Horizon Ridge there's something here that's broken

When Declan announced that she was to come with them, she couldn't hide the small hint of surprise that flickered in her eyes. However it vanished quickly. She listened silently to them talk, including the testing comment from the other one, Conan. Going with them did not seem as though it would cause a problem - it would mean that August might find someone perhaps a little like her. The women. They had always been like her at the old pack, surely they would be here too?

She remained silent, thinking over the possiblilities. The males, what would they be like? Would they be like the males she used to live among, would they be like Declan? Or Conan?

When a statement was directed at her, the maiden shook her head gently. She already ate some, and that was all she would need. The females were only given the bare necessities (of life) to live. And the haunch from earlier was indeed the only thing she'd eaten for a while. But, she was used to it.
