As she moved away from him, he called an apology to her. The ghost moved her narrow head to peer back at him over her shoulder, her heart thudding with sudden shame. She had dismissed him so readily, and while it was not unlike her to be blunt, she felt she had made a mistake. He was obviously befuddled, yet she had been mean to him.

Heeding the urge to return to the man, the tables turned, and it was she who pursued him. Wait, she declared, her tail beginning to wag. She caught up to him and bumped his shoulder with her snout, very briefly. Is there something specific you're looking for? asked Uma, her voice much gentler than it had been before. I could... try and help you find it. The woman offered no blatant apology, but it was clear that the words spoken of her sudden change in heart were apologetic.

Perhaps you will find it faster with the two of us. After all, she snickered, Two minds are better than one.
