A deep voice was not was she expected to hear in the midst of her peaceful stroll surrounded by tall grasses and the sweet notes of songbirds.  Ivy visibly startled and then instantly froze, her pale green eyes widening as she drew in a long, quiet breath to calm her racing heart.  It was only now she realized that to have her guard down was foolish, nevermind how close she was to home.  But the words spoken to her were cordial and helped her feel a little more at ease.

The small girl turned to look at who had decided to engage her in conversation and was surprised to find a giant hulk of a man nearby.  Hello, she replied automatically.  Politeness was something her parents had been sure to pass on to their young and Ivy thought that now was no exception to their teachings.  Not until proven otherwise, anyhow.  I'm not too far from home, she added with a small frown.  Just thought I'd branch out a little.  Inwardly the girl wondered why she was being so forthcoming with this strange man.  She didn't owe him any explanation and she wasn't really that young, just small!  But his size was a little intimidating, so she erred on the side of caution and kept things amiable.
