There had been nothing but scents drifting on the wind to alert the swarthy DeMonte to the impending invasion, but when a commanding howl broke over the mountain mere minutes after the patrolling wolf discovered a foreign scent trail crossing the border, she wasted no time in responding. Her assumption about what had happened was hastily made, but accurate. She couldn't have guessed their number, but Viatrix knew immediately that there was a border breach.

She stalked to Ferdie's side as quickly as her legs would carry her, her speed reinforced by the Alpha's second call to arms. The wolves they found were as motley as they came: a greyscale male heading the quartet, a golden female with a look of mischief on her face, a dark-furred wraith who looked to be all business, and a tawny male, silent and still as a statue.

Viatrix was in no position to mince words with these wolves, and her instincts roared at her to chase them away immediately, but she held back, remembering Ferdie's conditions. She fixed the ringleader of the trespassing party with a heavy glare, and as a punctuation to Jace's less-than-welcomimg greeting to them, she skimmed back her lips and rumbled a threatening, perpetuating growl at the intruders.
