He seemed friendly enough — delicate and gentle, though she didn't truly know him well enough to make such assumptions — so Kitsch was not quick to rouse from her sleepy state. As she listened to him, her pale lips pulled back and mouth widened in a yawn; her toes flexed and kneaded against the ground as she awoke her muscles with easy movements. It was different to be so lackadaisical around another, especially another whom she did not know — and a male, nonetheless! Kitsch was less calm around her caretaker West, who was none of those things. It was nice and freeing and the pearl wished she could feel like this all the time.

But her happiness was not her own — it was all that the memory of him would grant her, however fleeting it was.

and when the boy mentioned his learnings, her eye widened!   “What’s wrong with them?” the girl asked in a hushed voice, looking around her as if this was a secret she wanted no one else to hear — and it was a secret! The girl, at her core, was a trusting thing and had no reason not to believed him. Perhaps she had made a mistake by indulging? When had indulging ever gotten her anywhere, whether it be from Teaghlaigh’s caches or West’s poppies or, or, or anything!  How could she make this mistake again — what had she done wrong now?

Then Kitsch noticed his uneasy, distracted demeanor. There was something gone on here that was more than the potential for poisoned berries.   “You okay?” she quipped softly, lifting her ears with a gentle title and crawled her way towards him, unthreateningly, inching along the earth. It was strange being the one to make such an inquiry  — far too many times than she preferred, she had been the recipient of such a question.
