So even tho puppies eyes were meant to open last week, I wanted Clover to be a little delayed—at least on that front!
Clover was a perfectly healthy child, and exhibited perfectly healthy behavior—with the exception of the opening of her eyes. That this was a developmental milestone that might stress out her elders she did not know. She still ate heartily, squirmed around even more, and interacted with her family to the best of her ability. That anything was amiss, well, she hadn't the slightest idea.
One day though, everything changed. In the middle of a cleansing, Clover was roused and hungry. But a loud, shocked squeak came forth from her. She did not know what had happened, but things were suddenly quite different and blurry. It was a dizzying experience for the cub, who—instead of latching to a teat as she normally would—lay rigid.
