It does not surprise her to hear she is training with Heda but hearing the girl call her mom is surreal. Knowing about the family, the mateship and children, is much different than interacting them. Generations of one way of life settle deep in their bones and traditions are hard to change. Thuringwethil may not be the first commander to have a family but something always happens to them and it is times like these that the danger of family is all it takes to knock it down.

She doubts there will be a commander with a family for generations to come.
