Stone Circle Poor unfortunate souls

The sigh registered in her ears a moment later and Steph's head swiveled quickly to find the owner of it. She half expected her Mom, but she was disappointed not to find Valette standing behind her. But, she was not alone, either.

A big, slumbering mass laid on the ground several feet away, hidden in the shadows. Steph watch him closely, unmoving while she tried to remember if he was at the den last week. She couldn't. But, surely, he would know where her home was. 

He looked harmless enough, and so she stood and placed paw before paw until she was nose to nose with him. A fraction of an inch and they would touch. But, she didn't. She simply waited, willing him awake, her wide eyes boring into his closed ones.
