But his speech about it was at least charming, and Miyako, nodding in acquiescence, stepped forward and started to eat, ripping pieces from the fleshy part of the belly tucked into a hindquarter.

"Why can't you see that happening?" she asked between bites, swallowing thickly first so as not to choke mid-sentence. "You're the most seasoned wolf here that I've seen, and you're clearly a capable hunter and packmate."
