He tried to push her away with the backs of his paws, but still, he was too afraid of hurting her or pushing her over to make any real headway.

Carefully, he moved away from her, making sure she wouldn't fall over without his legs to lean on, and moved a few feet away. "Okay, we're gonna play a game," he told her. I'm going to go this way, and you're gonna follow, alright?"

He backed toward the den area, his eyes still glued to the little wolf. "C'mon, blackie. Let's go this way," he cajoled.
