Northstar Vale and I've been waiting so long

They had split early that morning, Freyja heading north, and he south, hoping to descend into the Vale. The pack-scent surprised him; though it was faded and days old, so he didn't bother. He wandered the valley for a time, stumbling across a cache that held half a hare. Cold had preserved it well; had it been summer the thing likely would have spoiled. Glad at his prize, the boy tugged it the earth, settling a few feet away with the thing between his paws, gnawing thoughtfully at the frozen snack.
