He fought himself on a reply for a moment or two — what had he wanted with the girl?  Perhaps it had been foolish to seek her out at all.  Just checkin' to see if you're okay.  Troy peered down at the muzzle sticking out from the fox den and scented her; packsmell was faint, a few other individuals weaved in and out.  

You know a good place 'round here to hole up for the winter?
