He hadn't left the poor girl, nor could he. Though Wirt had managed to calm her once, Awinita had returned to her shaking, voice alight with slurs of distress. All he could do was offer his guard, keeping watch over her as the night broke to dawn, and the warming sun dispersed the long shadows from the lake. The scent of her blood bit through his nose. Her mind did not run sound. His own mind filled with a constant stream of prayer, seeking guidance and help, and protection from whatever evil still lurked about.
He was no medic, but he knew she needed help. Yet he did not want to move her, nor did he know if there was anyone near who could bring the healing she desperately needed. "Awinita," he said gently, and hoped, in part, his voice would calm her. "You are not well. We need to find someone to look at your wounds."
