With a visible jump, the little red wolf yelped in surprise. She should not have been, given that the black wolf's scent was almost prominent here. His pack must have been close. "Oh! You're alive," she said in a rather high tone. The smile on her face appeared but vanished in the same instance. "I wasn't trying to look for you, you know. I just was--," she began before stopping short. If she admitted to the other wolf that she had been running away from yet another difficult situation, he would never let it go. "I was just taking a stroll," she said instead. Focusing her eyes on the black wolf, she could see the scars from the night before. There was nothing too bad, save for maybe a nasty bite to his neck, but the little red wolf still shivered. That had been a bad night. "How are they?" she found herself saying, "I mean, your scars." Her pale green eyes were soft with concern, and for just a moment, she forgot that she needed to play the mean one.
