Her ears flattened as he whispered to Clary. She didn't like that her sister was so far out of range and next to a stranger. And she was confused as to why Clary would trust him at all. Her eyes narrowed when he, once again, tried to get her to follow. He apparently didn't know that she knew nothing of her grandparents, but she did try to think of something he could answer for her to prove he at least knew their mother. 

Her eyes narrowed at him. Name one of her sons, she challenged. He hadn't bothered to use either her name or Clary's, and Steph really didn't believe he knew them at all. If he failed, there was no way she would be going with him.
