a war? thank the gods they'd elected to wander for a while -- they were wholly disinterested in involving themselves in something so droll as some pack war. undoubtably it was for some noble cause, religious conquest or punishment or what have you. undoubtably their fathers would have insisted they'd dedicate themselves to the cause if they'd been around, but, hah, they weren't.
