The bear’s laughter could’ve shaken the ground almost as much as the impact of the paws that could’ve taken Nisus’s head off his shoulders with a mere flick. It was a sound which brought relief to the dark loner, though; laughter was a good sign. Better than deathly silence, anyway. One could never trust complete silence in a world where sounds came from every corner.
The wolf’s head tilted at the she-bear’s words but he supplied his name readily enough:
“Nisus.”
And then she made an offer which had the potential to cause a new wave of surprise to fly over the hungry loner’s features. He supposed a deer was a mere snack to someone as large as a bear – but the gesture was appreciated nonetheless.
“It certainly would,” he responded, his ears lowering in deference. “Thank you… what do they call you?”
