Every wolf had to make themselves the most fierce and the strongest to encounter. That was not Ypres, or so she used to be like that. Ypres in her younger days would often try to intimidate any other just by making herself appear bigger and better than everyone else; not any more. She used logic to lead, not strength and stark naked fierceness. The air didn't feel right, and the ground seemed to tremble with ill meaning, as Ypres stood up and stretched after a long tiresome day of duties. She instructed all of her members to stay close by, as they were not the biggest or strongest pack, but a tight knit family unit. With Erika expecting puppies soon, it would make a great addition to the pack numbers. She trotted briskly towards the scent of the invaders soon spotting them. It was a pack raid. Ypres could feel her heart pounding as she used to love war, but now having the responsibility of the lives of others at her hand, she now detested war. She felt her throat have an acidic taste in the back the back of it, as her pounding heart probably could be heard from a mile away. Bone dryness of her throat followed suit as she tried to swallow, and her body almost did not want to work for her. Fear. Fear crept up on her like Cancer. Ypres only knew this feeling from a few times before, and it was probably an Alpha's worst fear and nightmare to see such a calling happening on their lands. Could anyone blame her for feeling this way?
Ypres had no choice but to face these demons as they approached swiftly and silently; despite the tingling fear of her entire body. She stood at the hilltop slowly making her way boldly toward the band of angry wolves. She recognized Lecter, Kaname, and Cara, but said nothing. She knew Cara must have been up to no good when she visited Silvermane when he was part of the pack, but he too left. Would she have fought against a friend if he were still there? Oh probably. Ypres trusted no one outside of her pack. She soon found herself barking from afar and safe distance where she halted her action and observed with a question. Any wolf would wonder the same if their lands were being invaded.
What is that forces you to war against me? Have I done you wrong ma'am?
She was curious, as she had never met the female before. Was it because she quested upon Heartwood that morning with Beric? Beric was no longer part of the pack.
Ypres wanted to see if she could reason with these wolves instead of fighting. She wanted no bloodshed, but to keep the skins of her members unscathed. It was a risky business, but Ypres knew she had no choice. Despite having seen their numbers, and then hers, she knew some of her wolves were to weak to fight anyway, and therefore it would be a losing battle, and Ypres knew it all too well.
If it is land that you seek, then you can take it. Its not worth keeping really
She assumed it was what they were after. The beautiful isle. Or where they after someone? Ypres would soon find out once her pack has been gathered together and faced the other pack.
