The mercenary's head tilted in a mocking way, though it was a legitimate question. Wouldn't it be better if he kept a move on? That's what he was doing until this bristling stranger came along.

A fight with this man would be very distinct from the silly scrap he had with the woman at the creek. As much as he adored fighting, he wasn't trying to needlessly get himself killed.
