Tahani offers help again and she shakes her head. It’s not the same. It’s not enough. She can’t constantly worry about the girl she didn’t even want. If she’s with someone else, belongs to someone else, she’ll be safer. She won’t have to worry about her mother as she gets older (she does not realize how different she’ll be) and the baby can have a fair chance of life.
 
“P-please,” she starts, “y-you take her. Your sister? She’ll have a family.” She chokes. It’s not something she wants to do, but then again, none of this is ever anything she wanted to do. The man took every aspect of her life away from her, she can’t give the girl something she doesn’t have.
