She watched his efforts from where she hid and inclined her ear to catch the distance of his steps when he rounded her and fell from sight. He'd done well to track her to this portion of the woods, to realize this was where she'd stopped - but by the way the soft crunch of his footfalls faded, this was where her praise would end.

Andalusia toyed with the idea of simply letting him leave, but she saw in this a potential for growth, so instead she shifted her weight to let her body graze the leaves of an adjacent shrub.
