Shadewood dust and bones

The forest was cooler than the rest of the world right now, and as she crept along the paths she savored the comforting sensation of the shadows criss-crossing her petite body; it was a relief, but not the only thing she was after. As the wolf roamed through the trees, followed the naturally formed animal paths laced with the scent of deer, she realized where she was. This forest — she had been here before, and this knowledge struck her sharply. She paused, glancing around at the thinning foliage and shafts of light slipping intermittently between, and found herself smiling.
