Food. Water. Shelter.
Food. Water. Shelter.
So far, she'd managed to figure out the food part... more or less. Sure, maybe she wasn't eating NEARLY as much as she had in her pack and was only just now starting to realize that starvation was a legit thing that could end her if she wasn't careful... but hey... she was getting it. Here and there, be it a freshly caught rabbit she SOMEHOW managed to chase down or the corpse of something already killed and half-eaten by the time she got there, she was managing alright.
As for water, well, suppose that was just luck of the land. No matter where she went, a fresh water supply never seemed far, and she was just counting down the days until that luck ran out and she found herself in, like... a desert... or something... WITHOUT water, basically. However, thankfully, that wasn't the case just yet, so she was good on that front too.
Yet shelter... Shelter proved to be a little more difficult than she would've previously predicted. Throughout most of her travels, the only kinds of the shelter she'd been able to take solace in were her own poorly dug dens... and typically, instead of resting, she'd spent most of her time in them just trying to support the ceiling so it wouldn't collapse on her while she slept... meaning she didn't sleep, really. So, more often than not, she'd been left with only the choice of sleeping outside... but not a night like that would pass by where she didn't feel exposed and far too out in the open, susceptible to whatever predator or psycho-wolf-murderer that might walk by.
She wanted—NEEDED—to sleep in SOME form of shelter, and since she seemed so incapable of making good dens herself, she'd started traveling closer to this mountain range, anticipating that there might be a good cave or two she could sleep in.
And it hadn't disappointed.
The mousy girl now found herself in a cavern of sorts, having discovered an entrance to this cave system a few moments prior, just as the sun was going down, and traveling deeper out of curiosity. She didn't intend to go that deep... just deep enough to give her a good idea of what might already be in here and how safe it was. So far so good... the scent of wolves was present but faded and vaguely masked by the ecosystem within, leading her to believe that, at the very least, the cave wasn't claimed... likely having just been a resting spot for a plethora of weary travelers like herself that had come before.
There didn't seem to be any bear or cougar scents either, nor the scent of pretty much anything else she should have to fear. So... seemed pretty good, she concluded with a slowly wagging tail, eyes still scanning the cavern, now with admiration instead of wary skepticism. It was pretty... with all of the plants, the shiny cave walls, and the patch of dim sunlight pouring in from above, steadily growing weaker as dusk approached. It was almost peaceful in a sense.
Yeah... she could make this work. Who knows... maybe even think about settling?
